Iwent up to London with my husband yesterday , to a performance of Handel's Messiah in St Martin in the Fields. It was wonderful- a perfect start to the Christmas period. It's one of my favourite works and before this pesky RA kicked in, was a regular pre Christmas treat . The opening tenor solo brought tears to my eyes and as for the Hallelujah Chorus- wow! It was made even more special by the fact that I rarely get to go to concerts these days- it's often too much to cope with. I paid for it today- but it was worth it!!

\ ooooooooooh I would have loved that
so pleased it went well.
Hearing it live is much better i think if you can make it, you get caught up in the emotion of it.

Absolutely wonderful. We usually go to the Bridgewater Hall to "Messiah" but there were no tickets left this year

Is that St John's, Smith Square Inky? We've been to a Chritmas concert there - not Messiah but it was still lovely.

Beautiful and perfect for the Christmas season!
I am listening to Faure's Requiem...my favourite and also the music used for the Theresian Play that Marie was in..sweet memories!

Oh, how wonderful Maria; I would have loved it too. I always play the music over Christmas (usually when I'm in the house alone, I'm afraid, it's not everybody's cup of tea, and if they're out I can turn up the volume - well, you've got to, haven't you?)
